Selecting a “niche” market:

1. Think about the websites you like to visit. Is there a common theme? What about ezines or magazines that you subscribe to? Your niche market will also visit these same websites and subscribe to the same ezines and magazines. Remember, not everyone will be interested in your info product, and that isn’t a bad thing! When you target a SPECIFIC market, you can narrow-down your advertising and marketing strategies, and not waste time marketing to people who don’t care about the info product you are selling.

2.Remember, niche markets can include ANYTHING! Some examples:

    1. Photography (my niche market)- sample problem: how to legally start a business and get customers
    2. Accounting or finance – sample problem: how to save for college or retirement
    3. Education – sample problem: how to teach a child to read
    4. Travel – sample problem: how to travel Europe on a budget
    5. Cooking – sample problem: easy to make meals for people who don't like to cook
    6. Crafts – sample problem: how to create beautiful scrapbooks using poetry
    7. Real estate – sample problem: how to sell your own house
    8. Self defense – sample problem: how women can protect themselves

Remember, your niche market should be big enough for your info product or website to be successful. You do not necessarily have to sell your information to make money, either. Some people choose to give the information away for free, and then make their money with affiliate programs or adsense revenue.

How do you know what problem or topic to focus on?

  • Explore forums or chat rooms of your niche market. What are some popular topics?
  • What do people in your niche market want to learn how to do?
  • What do people in your niche market like to talk about?

Share “insider info” whenever you can! (Example: if you are a real estate agent, you could write an info product on how to sell a house. If you are a car salesman, you could write an info product on how to buy a car for less. A teacher could write an info product on how to teach reading. If you love scrapbooking, you could take photos some of your best pages and describe how you did them and where to purchase the products, etc.)
